Gladly
Gladly I will take the knife
cut open this chest of useless treasures
beating hopelessly in an icy cage
and guide your hands within.
A final gift to you
to let you cup in your palms
the life which persists only for you
the closeness of your warmth to my death.
I will let you extract it from its prison
so you may do with it as you wish
for it has been yours for long
perhaps you will cradle its fading rhythm.
To sleep without the fear of a monster
hovering with the hissing voice of the asp
contemplating from above as you smile
in the knowledge that I truly care.
