The Vines

The abandoned house was covered with wisteria flowers;

it looked dead, but vivid with its blue and purple colors.

Nobody dared to enter the house because

there was a rumor that someone had died in it.

But there was a soul who fell in love with the house;

she was enchanted by the vines that grew freely.

Her smile brightened as she captured it with her camera.

She wondered what stories this house held.

The old woman told her that the house belonged to a couple;

the husband had died of grief over the loss of his beloved wife.

The wisteria was planted to make

the house last longer, as it symbolized longevity.

He wished that the memories of them

would not disappear as long as the house stood.
