WRESTLE
feeble blemished stems, still
stretched to endless skies, lacking
sections of love-
that debuted incomplete, yet
the stand tall remained, through
the sketchy falling rain, and
the original hindered bulbs, showed
their own glory, and the glory shone
in the most unconventional, distasteful
way to the others, yet they pushed
forward in triumph, holding
distinct shades of unusual vivid light,
that failed conventional perfection-
they grappled and snared, through
the long expedition, presenting
their beauty to the world, and
the slivers and shards, created
from grueling spring storms, devised
another distinctive growth-
from the unjudging sun, the flowers
that dawned from the scanty bulbs, prevailed
perfectly
despite the laborious battle,
solely from their own wrestle.
A fan of Neruda, Emerson, and Dickinson (to name a few) -In the past few years, Mary has been on her own journey of discovery in reading and writing poetry, with the long verse being a favorite. She is a poet that loves to bring natural elements to her writing, hence her 2024 forthcoming picture book (poem) publication, Painting the Sky with Love (MacMillan Fall 2024) with an additional forthcoming piece in the Wild Roof Journal (July 2023 issue). In her spare time, she loves to dabble in different forms of poetry, spend time with family, travel, and paper crafting.
